How do you do 26.2?

It has been a quiet few days. I'm still keeping up with my running.

I am even trying to slowly increase the time and distance of my runs--however, diligently following the "10 Percent Rule", is VERY difficult... Like anyone else who is trying to increase their times and/or distances--limiting increases to only 10 percent, just seems too insignificant in the short-term. On the other hand, I have been prone to shin splints in the past and want none of that, ever again if possible. So 10 percent rule, it is! But boy, it sure is slow.

My goal has long been (since I completed the first one) to run another marathon. I ran my first one in June of 2005 and I know that I could have done better than what I did. So my parents ask every year if I want to run another one, and I think this fall is it. It's going to come up so quickly, even though it seems eons away, but I can always walk some of it.

However there is one thing that I know without question, no matter how fast or slow I am, I can go another 26.2!

Happy Running!

Hugs and Congratulations to My Nieces, H & M!!!

So, with a little training and a lot of encouragement, my two nieces ran their first 5K races today.

I am so incredibly proud of both of them!!!!
My youngest niece, M (age 7) was the youngest in the 14 and under age group, made up by fifteen runners, total. Three nine-year-old girls, including H, were the next youngest. Everone else in their age group were 13 and 14 (save one 12 year old). Further, the other two 9 year olds were DNF (did not finish).

Again, I say... there are not words enough to express how incredibly proud I am of my nieces today!!! Here's a shot of them with their mom after the race (displaying their free post-race goodies)!

For such young ages, and this being their first 5k's their times were really quite remarkable.

Here are their stats (Names and City have concealed for their protection).

Congrats again, H & M!!!!
I am SO PROUD OF YOU!!!

Happy Running
